I believe that the private ballot is absolutely necessary in order to ensure that workers are not intimidated into voting for a union they might not otherwise choose. And I’m not alone: More than 260 million Americans support a federally-supervised, private-ballot election to decide unionization.

I urge you to OPPOSE and VOTE AGAINST any and all efforts to require or expand the use of forced unionization, also known as “card check,” or any effort that will decrease a worker’s access to a private-ballot election, including the Employee Free Choice Act.

Congress should protect private ballot elections in the workplace just like the ones we used to vote you into office.

Don’t bring back the bad old days of forced unionizing; it’s a dangerous and undemocratic change to a system that’s worked for more than 60 years.
